The organic harissa spread (185g) is produced by Moulins Mahjoub in Tebourba, around the Medjerda valley in Northern Tunisia. It is made from sun-dried peppers ground with garlic, cardamon, salt, coriander, and extra virgin olive oil. Harissa is used in most Tunisian dishes. It has a spicy umami taste, which is particularly delicious with tomato sauces, couscous, m'hamsa and pasta. It's widely used in North African and Middle Eastern cuisines as a condiment, or mixed with water or tomato juice to flavour stews, soups or couscous.
This famous Tunisian condiment adds a smoky heat and spice to enhance almost any dish. The use of sun-dried peppers gives this Harissa a delightfully full, chewy texture and meaty depth. As with all of the Mahjoub products, this is produced using traditional farming methods with no additives or artificial processes.
